I went slumming at the legendary Gilman in last night. Gilman in Berkeley is where bands like Green Day and Rancid started out. Mad Sin from Germany and the Phenomenauts were playing. Plan Nine also played, but I missed them. Plan Nine is a great Misfits tribute band. Since the pics of my as a sugar skull were already up on facebook, I had to throw together another costume. Here it is:

San Franciso's 2nd Annual Zombie Prom
Last night was the 2nd Annual Zombie Prom put on by Tanoa Stewart at the Verdi Club. This year was fantastic. The costumes and decorations were tops, and with Okie Oran Spinning and music by the Hi-Rhythm Hustlers and Stompy Jones, a good time was had by all!
Enjoy the pictures!

Does anyone else subscribe to the vintage bulletin?
Is it me, or is there rarely anything cute posted there? Dandolion Vintage seems to be the only regular poster who has good stuff. Everything else is 70s, 80s even 90s. Just not what I consider "vintage." Being old, I consider it "vintage" if it was made before I was born 1966.

I'm going to do it!
In an earlier blog I expressed my desire (rather OBSESSION) to go to the Rockabilly Rave in 2011. I even got a day job to achieve that goal. One obstacle, sorry to say, was the imaginary husband. He has no interest. He told me if we go to England he wants to go look at castles, not listen to great music and hang around a bunch people jiving, all night. My idea of a good time is listening to music and hanging around a bunch of people jiving all night!
This difference of opinion was going to make going to the Rave nearly impossible. Monday, when I returned from Long Beach, there was a letter from my aunt. It appears my Tu-Tu left me some money. I showed the check to imaginary husband and told him "I'm going to the Rave." He nodded and said, "You've got your own money to do it, you can go."
Today, I sent and paid for a copy of my birth certificate. When that comes I will apply for my passport. When will it be June?

This is what bugs me about Etsy...
Look at these glasses...I know the quality of the plastic, etc., and don't think they are worth 36.00.
vintage sunglasses
The same sunglasses sold on Ebay for 10.09.
Same glasses for less than a third of the price.
It's one thing for a dealer to get up early in the morning, make it to the flea market or estate sale and pick up bargains to resell. Sitting on your butt, buying off of Ebay to resell on Etsy is not only less lucrative, it drives up the prices for the consumers. I don't know if that is what this dealer did, but if they didn't do it, they should research their product before listing.
OK...rant over!

Please explain...
Why I can spend over $100 on a dress, yet can't seem to purchase a decent camera to take pictures for my blog? This week, I swear, I will get a camera.

Friends, dogpiles and Lurex...OH MY!
Sorry I've not been blogging! After the Bombshell Bop and my birthday, I had to work at the shop, then at my day job, then prepare to go to Long Beach for the Rhythm Rocker. I am sorry I've neglected this!
I don't need to write about the Bombshell Bop and my birthday because Rachelle did an excellent job writing a review and about the show HERE.
Prior to the Rhythm Rocker, I knew that the line up would not be what was anticipated when the show was first announced. Most of the European bands had dropped off the bill, and the line up dwindled. As that was happening, I also knew that support for the weekender would fall, so I was more determined to go and support since California doesn't have weekenders.
Wednesday night, my buddy Raul drove down from the east bay so we could attend a record hop in Santa Cruz where we warmed up dancing with a few people and getting psyched for the weekend. We woke up early on Thursday, I took my son to school and did my packing. Yes, I waited until the last minute to pack! Shame on me, but since I was driving, I just laid my dresses on the back seat.
The drive down seemed to go quickly while we played the game "Anal Road Trip." You insert the word "anal" in front of the models of cars you see on the road, "Anal Explorer" "Anal Lancer" "Anal Wrangler" "Anal Probe," you get it. I think the guys over at Ford made up the game since Fords are the best for the Anal Road Trip game.
When we got to Long Beach we went over to my friend Lucky's house where Raul and I were staying. We went out to eat at the Pike on 4th Street right by Retro Row. Dinner was great, and Raul and I got dressed up to meet Jessica and Cosmic Keith at the Puka Bar where the pre-party was happening. We ran into tons of people we knew, and saw Nichole "Rockabilly Socialite." Basically a fun night of dancing, hanging out and shooting the shit with socal people I know.
