Who remembers the Television show "Homefront?"

Homefront was my favorite show in 1991 and 1992. It was one thing Frank and I had in common when we met, we both loved the show and were both sad when it ended.

I remember in the 90s, there was a cultural longing and appreciation for post-war America. We were celebrating the "Greatest Generation" as they were rapidly declining, and for young people, the romance of that time spawned the big Swing Band revival. 1994 saw the 50th anniversary of D-Day, and as more people from "Generation X" began to mature, start families, or find fulfilling careers, the more they looked to the past with respect and a desire to emulate their grandparents. As the "grunge" era declined, fashion locked backwards as did media. You saw it in commercials, movies and various entertainment.

Although this show was set in post-war America, it was not like a post-war American movie. It dealt with issues such as work sexism, racism, labor organization and of course, relationships.

Here is a the opening credits from my old favorite TV show...I watched all episodes on youtube sometime last year, but I can't seem to find them. If anyone can find them, please let me know.

I never watched this back then for some reason. It looks like the kind of show I'd love, though. Will have to check it out...

Hey - I love the new look of your blog. Did you just change it? Or have I been completely oblivious...

It was such a great show...I have only found one website that sells the series, but as far I know it must be pirated because I don't think Warner Brothers has ever released it. I was thrilled when I found all the episodes on Youtube, and I think in 2001? TVLAND network aired all the episodes in a weekend marathon that my husband and I watched.

Yep, I changed the look of my blog. I wanted it to be a little less "busy" and a little more "stylish." hehe.

I totally remember that show. I was in the beginning stages of being a teenager when it started, but I remember. That was my first period/era piece of entertainment, other than "Peggy Sue Got Married", that I really enjoyed. Thanks for bring back some great memories.

I remember that show but I never watched it. I do recall the promos and ads and I thought that Kyle Chandler guy was hella fine! Lol!

In 91/92, I was in my junior year of high school. In the summer of 92, "A League of Their Own" came out and my best friend and I went to see it. I instantly fell in love with the clothing! My father has always been a huge fan of big band music so I already was familiar with swing (and I loved it). The clothing, hair, and makeup worn by Madonna and Geena Davis was so inspiring! Due to this movie, I started wearing nothing but red lipstick and I have never looked back!

If will try to see if I can find "Homefront" on DVD!
