Does anyone else subscribe to the vintage bulletin?

Is it me, or is there rarely anything cute posted there? Dandolion Vintage seems to be the only regular poster who has good stuff. Everything else is 70s, 80s even 90s. Just not what I consider "vintage." Being old, I consider it "vintage" if it was made before I was born 1966.

I agree, Kim! The 'perceived element' of vintage is that it's unique, old, special, etc. Also, most sellers are trying to appeal to the college-age, indie hipsters who shop at Urban Outfitters and who think something from 1982 is vintage! These kids have no clue and yet vintage vendors are cashing in! The striped "Mork and Mindy-esque" ski jackets and disco wrap dresses of our youth has become the younger sets' vintage. Like you, I was there. I was born in '75 so anything I wore as a kid, i.e. late 70s, all 80s, and 90s is not vintage. I refuse to go back to the neon-orange Reeboks and the winged sweaters. To me, vintage is 40s, 50s, and some early 60s. Anything after 1960 is new! What drives me crazy the most is how some sellers will have something listed as 50s and it's merely a poorly-constructed, ugly 1980s, poly-blend facsimile! Thing is, most buyers have no clue about what is truly 50s and what is a repro. Like I said, if you slap a vintage label on it, they will come a runnin' with cash in hand!

Stupid people come running! Argh, it just gets so frustrating, trying to find good stuff and having to weed through the disgusting.

Too true about stupid, ignorant people! We have to wade through their overpriced ugly wares to find our 40s/50s gems! I know their vintage fads will come and go but for those of us with intelligence, style, and true knowledge; we will prevail!

I agree although I don't subscribe to the vintage bulletin. I'm with you Kim, I was born in 1966 too so I think vintage is anything before then he he!
